Our Magical Team

Hi I am Eryn

Eryn and Lupin Believe in Magic

Who Am I?

  • I have worked with dogs and cats professionally as an instructor since 2007 and worked with horses for over 18 years.
  • I moved from North London to South East London in 2011 and I offer my services and expertise in dog behaviour and training in the surrounding areas to Crystal Palace, Streatham, Tooting, Balham & Dulwich.
  • I promote only kind, fair and effective evidence-based training techniques. I actively encourage the use of clicker training because it builds a wonderful open communication between handler and dog, building their bond, trust and confidence. For people who find it hard to use a clicker, we use an alternative marker, consistent sound or a word instead. I do not use methods or equipment designed to inflict physical pain, discomfort, fear or intimidation.
  • I am a Be A Tree Dog Bite Prevention Presenter as I believe it is imperative that our young children of today learn how to act appropriately around dogs and how to read their body language effectively.
  • I am constantly keeping up to date with current research, attending seminars, conferences and training courses. We can never know enough!

Hi I am Rach

Who Am I?

“I believe you and your dog have so much to learn about each other, by sharing my knowledge and skills in a nurturing and supportive way, I help guardians genuinely interested in discovering the uniqueness of their dog, understand and grow together as a team”

Rachel – Trainer & Behaviour Coach

Hello, my name is Rachel Birt and I share my life with six dogs and one very understanding husband.

I love what I do and have learnt so much from all the dogs I have worked with over the years.

I believe you and your dog have so much to learn about each other and deserve to be the best you can be, by sharing my knowledge in a nurturing and supportive way, I help guardians genuinely interested in discovering the uniqueness of their dog, understand and grow together as a team.

I provide science-based teaching, woven into a fun centred learning programme, focusing on the fabulous abilities of your dog’s nose.

Recognising and promoting your dog’s needs and nurturing their emotional and mental welfare, together we explore their exciting world of secret scent intelligence.

Experience

  • I have had dogs in my life for over fifty years and spent twenty-five years working hard to gain my reputation as a responsible and reputable breeder of working dogs under my affix Raezhaven.
I started out with border collies and then moved to working cocker spaniels, breeding my final litter in 2017.
  • My life and our home life changed forever in 2014 with the arrival of a handsome blue merle border collie Rossi. When he joined our family as a beautiful fluffy puppy, destined for a flyball career, I had no idea how our lives were going to take on a different dimension or how much I was going to learn from this fabulous canine tutor, or where seeking to understand him better would lead.
Rossi is the reason I teach the way I do, we are still learning together and I am still on a quest to make life for him the best it can be. I owe it to him and all dogs like him to grow in understanding and knowledge and seek to acquire the necessary skills to nurture all our emotional, physical and mental needs.

Hi I am Merry

Who Am I?

I’m Merry, a dog trainer and behaviourist based in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester. I have been working in the industry since 2016.

I grew up in Devon with multiple pets, from rodents to chickens to tortoises, as well as a Dalmatian, a Rhodesian Ridgeback crossbreed and a Harrier hound – breeds which are all still firm favourites of mine. I now share my home with three rehomed/rescued dogs: a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross English Bull Terrier, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and a Terrier mixed breed, who is deaf. I also have nine guinea pigs, fancy mice and a Syrian hamster – I am really passionate about caring for small pets as well!

I began my career with dogs by working at a dog boarding kennels, a dog day care and then a dog walking company. I ran my own dog walking business in South London between 2016 and 2020, during which time I also assisted in and taught dog training classes and behaviour consultations at Believe in Magic Dog Training and Behaviour.

Career

I studied at the University of York from 2011-2014. During this time I volunteered as a dog-walker for the RSPCA York and District Branch. After graduating I moved back home, and it quickly became clear that my true passion was to work with animals, specifically dogs. I began part-time work at my family’s alpaca farm, as well as working as a Kennel Assistant at Barn Close Kennels, a local boarding kennels for cats and dogs.

I moved to Crystal Palace in September 2015, and began working at a Doggy Daycare. During my employment I encountered some issues with my own dog’s behaviour, prompting me to seek the help and advice of Eryn and Believe in Magic Dog Training & Behaviour. This decision inspired me to educate myself further on dog body-language, training and behaviour. As a consequence of learning about force-free training methods, I left the day care after nine months. I then became self-employed and started working with a local dog-walking company, Honor Oak Bark.

As of March 2017 I have been running my own dog-walking business, Dog Days. I offer my services in Crystal Palace, Dulwich, Streatham and the surrounding areas, and my aim is to provide fun, stress-free walks to the dogs under my care. I walk dogs in groups of 3-4 maximum, as well as offering solo walks to reactive, elderly or anxious dogs. I am also a behaviourist and trainer for Believe In Magic and continuously keep up to date with evidence based methods.
